Cactus Cactus is a Singaporean rock band that formed in April 2020, and currently consists of vocalist/guitarist Isaac Chiew, bassist John Paul Kwan, drummer Julian Stewart, and guitarist Daniel Seah. The band draws its sound from a myriad of influences – be it the unhinged energy of Hot Snakes, the dazzling psychedelia of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, or the unapologetic adventurism of Kanye West. With "Thumbs Up Man", the band tackle nepotism with ferocious, punk-styled rhythmic abrasion, flavoured by unpredictable, eclectic dual-guitar soundscapes. On the other hand, "Smoke" explores the transient nature of life. Its introspective narrative is presented through cathartically mesmerising auto-tune vocals, accompanied by desert-like guitar riffs and laid back bass grooves. The band hopes to frequently put out new music, consistently spreading their gospel of visceral, freewheeling rock to fresh ears. They are currently working on their debut EP, tentatively set for end 2021.
